Cancel a leave request

Plans change. You can cancel a leave request you’ve submitted from the My Leave page. Cancelling a pending request takes it out of your manager’s approval queue. Cancelling an approved request returns the days to your balance.

Cancel a request

  1. On the left hand sidebar, click My Leave.
  2. Scroll to your leave history list.
  3. Find the request you want to cancel and click the cancel action on that row.
  4. Confirm in the dialog that opens.

The request immediately changes to Cancelled status and disappears from your manager’s approval queue (if it was still pending).

What happens to my balance?

  • Pending request cancelled. No change. Your balance was never reduced, so there’s nothing to return.
  • Approved request cancelled. The days are added back to your current balance straight away.

Filter to find an old request

If your history has a lot of items, use the status filter at the top of the list to narrow it down: All statuses, Pending, Pending stage 2, Approved, Rejected, Cancelled.

Cancelling leave that’s already started or finished

The cancel action stays available on past leave too, in case it was recorded in error or your circumstances changed. Cancelling leave that’s already been taken is unusual and your HR admin will likely follow up to understand what happened. If you’re not sure, talk to your manager or HR admin first.

Cancelling someone else’s leave

You can only cancel your own requests. Managers and admins use the approval queue to decline pending requests, or contact HR for approved leave that needs to be unwound.
