Build a custom report
The custom report builder lets you create a report that’s exactly the shape you want. Pick the columns, set filters, choose a sort order, and export the data.
Open the builder
- On the left hand sidebar, under Tools, click Reports.
- Click Custom.
What you can include
The builder offers 14 fields you can include as columns:
Employee:
- First name, last name, email
- Department, job title, employment type
- Start date, length of service, manager
Compliance:
- Status
- Award ID, award classification
- Pay rate, pay rate unit
These are the fields that aren’t sensitive enough to be locked away (TFN, banking, etc., aren’t available in the custom builder).
Building a report
- Pick fields. Drag the fields you want from the list on the left into the report on the right, in the order you want them.
- Add filters. Click to add a filter. Pick a field, an operator,
and a value. Operators include:
- Equals, Not equals
- Contains
- Greater than, Less than
- Stack filters. Add as many as you want; they combine with AND.
- Sort. Pick a field to sort by, and direction (ascending / descending).
- Group (optional). Group rows by a column for a summary view.
- Date range (optional). For fields that are dates, set a window.
Run and export
Click to run the report. The result table shows on screen. Click export to download as CSV.
The custom report is capped at 500 rows. For most uses that’s enough; if you genuinely need every row of a larger dataset, the standard exports (Headcount, Leave, etc.) are unlimited.
Saving custom reports
Currently the builder is per-session, you don’t save the report configuration. If you re-run a complex custom report regularly, keep a note of the field selection and filters, or use the AI Reports Assistant to describe what you want and have it set up the report for you (see Use the AI Reports Assistant).
Permissions
Managers and admins. The builder runs queries against employee data, so it’s behind admin/manager-level access.
