Build your organisation's cultural values

Cultural values are short statements of how your organisation expects people to behave: “Bias for action”, “Customer first”, “Direct and kind”, that sort of thing. The platform surfaces them across employee-facing surfaces (dashboard, performance reviews, shoutouts) so they show up in day-to-day work, not just on a poster.

Open Cultural Values

  1. On the left hand sidebar, click Settings.
  2. Open the Cultural Values area.

Add a value

  1. Click to add a new value.
  2. Fill in:
    • Label. Short name (max 80 characters), e.g. “Bias for action”.
    • Tag line. A one-sentence summary shown on dashboard cards (max 120 characters), e.g. “Move fast, learn fast, fix it fast”.
    • Meaning. A longer description (max 400 characters) for people who want to understand what the value means in practice.
    • Description. Internal notes (max 200 characters), not shown to staff.
    • Colour. Pick from a palette of 11 options.
    • Icon. Pick from 11 icons (star, heart, shield, handshake, users, flame, target, bolt, leaf, compass, etc.).
  3. Save.

The value appears on every employee’s dashboard.

Reorder values

Use the move-up / move-down arrows on each value to set the display order. The order applies everywhere the values are shown.

Edit or delete

Click into a value to edit any field. Click delete to remove it. Deletes are immediate and apply to all employee dashboards on next load.

Maximum 10 values

The platform caps cultural values at 10. This is intentional — long values lists become noise. If you find yourself wanting more than 10, look for ways to consolidate (combine related ones, or pick the 10 that matter most).

Where they show

Cultural values appear:

  • On every employee’s dashboard, in the universal cultural values row
  • In review templates that reference cultural values (you can ask reviewers to score against each value)
  • In shoutouts, where employees can tag the value being recognised
  • On the Our Culture page (HR Hub > Our Culture)
  • On the public-facing parts of the platform (job ads if your org has enabled that)

Use the Culture Builder if starting from scratch

If you don’t yet have cultural values defined, the Culture Builder wizard (HR Hub > Our Culture) walks you through building them with AI assistance. Better than starting from a blank page.
